VIS-A’-VIS

Safeguarding documentary resources for

THE NEXT GENERATION OF THE GLOBAL VILLAGE

The age is like a knife,

Kings are butchers

The law hath taken wing a flown;

In the dark night of falsehood

I cannot espy the rising of the moon of truth;

I have searched everywhere and wearied of the quest;

In the dusk I cannot find my path.

Pride that is within is the root of sorrow;

Oh! Nanak how shall we be saved (on the marrow)?

UNESCO's  WW-1 Duty

Representing the Director-General of UNESCO, ADG

Eric Falt spoke of a duty to remember World War I,

often referred to as the Great War,

which, he said, “was sadder than it was great.

Understanding its legacy is an initiation to peace.

Safeguarding its documentary resources and

handing them down through education

and culture contributes to building the defences of

peace in the minds of men and women.

UNESCO’s mission is to draw on the power of

education, culture and art to transcend memory,

overcome hatred and build peace,” he said.

Freedom from oppression

GHADR

Jau tau prem khelan ka chau,
Sirr dhar tali gali meri aau

Ill fares the land, to hastening ills a prey Where wealth accumulates and men decay: Princes and lords may flourish or may fade; A breath can make them, as a breath has made; But a bold peasantry, their country's pride, When once destroyed, can never be supplied.
